The Institution — Vika Group's Philosophy, Mission, and Long-Term Industrial Vision for Africa

Vika Group

The Institution.

This page sets out why Vika Group exists, what it is committed to, and what it intends to leave behind.

Section I

Why institutions
matter.

Institutions outlive individuals.

A person's working life spans decades. An institution, properly constituted, spans centuries. The knowledge accumulated by one generation is preserved and transmitted to the next. The relationships built by one leader become the foundation upon which successors build. The discipline instilled in one era becomes the culture of the next.

Institutions outlive governments.

Political administrations change. Policies are reversed. Priorities shift with electoral cycles. An institution that has embedded its principles in its structure, its governance, and its people is not dependent on any single government's goodwill. It endures because it has earned the trust of the societies it serves.

Institutions outlive markets.

Markets expand and contract. Commodity cycles rise and fall. Capital flows follow sentiment as much as fundamentals. An institution that has built durable relationships, maintained its financial discipline through downturns, and preserved its reputation through difficulty will be present when the next cycle begins.

Institutions outlive technologies.

The tools of commerce change with each generation. The principles of stewardship, integrity, and long-term thinking do not. An institution anchored to enduring values rather than to any particular technology or method will adapt to each new era without losing what made it worth preserving.

Section II

Why Vika
exists.

Vika Group was established with a long-duration mandate in Africa. The following principles govern every decision we make.

Integrity

We do not separate commercial conduct from ethical conduct. They are the same thing. An institution that compromises its integrity for short-term advantage has already begun its decline.

Stewardship

We hold the institution in trust: for its investors, for the communities in which we operate, and for the generations who will inherit what we build. Stewardship is the condition that makes ambition sustainable.

Disciplined governance

Governance provides the structure through which an institution makes decisions it can defend, learns from its mistakes, and ensures that no single individual's judgment becomes the institution's only safeguard.

Responsible investment

Capital deployed in Africa must create value that remains in Africa. We do not extract and depart. We build, operate, and remain. We share in the long-term consequences of every decision we make.

Continuous renewal

An institution that stops learning stops deserving to exist. We commit to examining our assumptions, updating our methods, and improving our practice, because intellectual honesty demands it.

Long-term partnership

We do not seek transactional relationships. We seek partners who share our time horizon, our values, and our belief that the most durable value is created through sustained commitment rather than opportunistic engagement.

Mission

Vika Group closes the gap between Africa’s critical-mineral endowment and the global industrial systems that depend on it — building the platforms, infrastructure and strategic partnerships that make that connection commercially viable and strategically durable.

Vision

“A future in which Africa’s industrial potential is fully realized through resilient, globally integrated value chains.”

Section III

A reflection from
the Founder.

I founded Vika Group because I believed — and still believe — that Africa’s industrial future will be shaped by the institutions that are built now. Not by the capital that passes through, not by the projects that are completed and departed, but by the institutions that remain: that accumulate knowledge, develop people, steward capital, and strengthen the societies in which they operate.

I chose Africa not because it was the easiest path, but because it is where the need is greatest and where the opportunity to build something genuinely enduring is most real. The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia, and Angola are not peripheral markets. They are the centre of the world’s most significant resource endowment, and they deserve institutions that treat them as such.

I chose the long term because I do not believe that value of lasting consequence can be created quickly. The institutions I most admire — in finance, in industry, in public life — were built over decades by people who were willing to forgo short-term recognition in exchange for long-term impact. That is the standard I have set for Vika Group.

I think often about the people who will lead this institution after I am gone. I do not know their names. I do not know the circumstances they will face. But I know that the decisions I make today — about governance, about culture, about the principles we embed in our structure — will shape the institution they inherit. That responsibility is not a burden. It is the most meaningful dimension of the work.

To those future leaders: you will face challenges I cannot anticipate. You will operate in a world I cannot fully imagine. But if you remain faithful to the principles on which this institution was founded — if you act with integrity, govern with discipline, invest with responsibility, and serve with genuine commitment to the communities in which you operate — then Vika Group will be worthy of the trust that has been placed in it.

That is all I ask.

Section IV · The Institutional Promise

“We measure our success not only by what we build, but by what remains stronger because we existed.”

Section V

The Steward’s
Principle.

“We inherited this Institution from the future, not the past. Our duty is to return it stronger than it was entrusted to us.”

This principle governs how we think about every decision we make. We hold this institution in trust. The capital we deploy, the people we develop, the relationships we build and the reputation we earn must be managed with future leadership in mind.

Section VI

Looking
forward.

Vika Group is committed to continuously learning, adapting, and evolving while remaining faithful to its founding principles. The institution will change. Its principles will not.

Methods evolve.

The way we build, operate, and invest will change with each decade. We will adopt better tools, more efficient processes, and more sophisticated approaches as they become available.

Technology evolves.

The technologies that underpin our platforms, in energy, logistics, resource development, and residential infrastructure, will be transformed by innovation we cannot yet anticipate. We will adapt.

Markets evolve.

The economic and political landscape of Central Africa will change in ways that will require us to revise our assumptions, adjust our strategies, and respond to circumstances that no plan could have foreseen.

The Institution’s principles endure.

Integrity, stewardship, disciplined governance, responsible investment, continuous renewal, and long-term partnership. These do not change. They are not policies. They are the institution itself.

Vika Group was established in 2026
to build an institution designed to endure.

Its success will be measured by its ability to continually earn the trust
of the people, partners, and communities it serves.
