BASTION modular workforce accommodation and mining camp facilities in Central Africa
Our Businesses—BASTION

BASTION

Purpose-built workforce infrastructure and industrial service environments for mining, EPC, infrastructure, and industrial operators across Central Africa.

BASTION develops, constructs, and operates purpose-built workforce infrastructure and industrial service environments across the DRC, Zambia, and Angola, serving both the Vika institution's own operations and third-party project operators. Its developments combine accommodation with the operational systems required by institutional clients, including dining, recreation, medical support, facilities management, security, logistics, and site services.

What We Do

Workforce infrastructure for institutional-scale projects.

Large-scale mining and infrastructure projects in the DRC, Zambia, and Angola consistently face a common constraint: the absence of professionally managed workforce infrastructure in the areas where they operate.

BASTION develops, constructs, and operates purpose-built workforce infrastructure and industrial service environments designed from inception for commercial scale, operational resilience, repeatability, and future expansion. Its developments combine accommodation with the operational systems required by institutional clients — providing facilities that meet the governance and operational standards that institutional project owners require.

Market Rationale

Why this gap exists, and why it persists.

01

Remote project locations

Major infrastructure and resource projects in sub-Saharan Africa are frequently located in areas with no existing accommodation infrastructure. Building a workforce environment from scratch is a prerequisite for project execution.

02

Absence of formal operators

The workforce accommodation market in most of our operating markets is fragmented and informal. Few operators can deliver and manage integrated facilities at the scale and standard that major project clients require.

03

Cost of inadequate accommodation

Poor workforce accommodation has direct operational consequences: higher turnover, lower productivity, health and safety incidents, and reputational risk for project owners. Clients are willing to pay for quality.

04

Sustained project pipeline

The pipeline of infrastructure, energy, and resource projects across DRC, Zambia, and Angola is substantial and growing. Each project represents a potential BASTION engagement, and many require accommodation for multi-year periods.

Capabilities

What BASTION delivers.

01

Site Design & Construction

We design and construct purpose-built workforce accommodation facilities tailored to the specific requirements of each project, from site layout and modular unit specification to utilities, perimeter security, and access infrastructure.

02

Integrated Facility Management

BASTION operates the facilities it builds. Our integrated management model covers maintenance, housekeeping, administration, and the full range of support services required to sustain a productive project workforce.

03

Catering & Nutrition

We provide full catering services designed for the nutritional and operational requirements of industrial workforces, with supply chains adapted to the logistics constraints of remote and frontier environments.

04

Logistics & Supply Chain

BASTION manages the supply chains that keep its facilities operational, from consumables and equipment to personnel movement and waste management.

05

Health, Safety & Security

We design and operate health, safety, and security infrastructure appropriate to the environments in which we work, including medical facilities, emergency response protocols, and workforce safety management systems.

06

Modular Capacity

BASTION's modular model is sized to project requirements, enabling rapid expansion during ramp-up phases and efficient wind-down as projects reach completion.

Why BASTION

Operator-led, performance-accountable.

BASTION takes full responsibility for the ongoing performance of the environments we build. We manage facilities for the long term, with the same standards we apply to our own operations.

Built for frontier environments.

Every facility is designed for its specific operating context. We build for the conditions that exist, not the conditions that would be convenient.

Integrated service delivery.

BASTION delivers the full range of facility services under a single management structure. This reduces coordination risk and improves accountability.

In Planning

Vika Kolwezi Campus.

In Kolwezi, BASTION is being master-planned as part of an integrated Vika campus alongside a physically and operationally distinct Domaine Imara executive precinct, with shared infrastructure designed for commercial scale, operational resilience, and future expansion.

BASTION and Domaine Imara are distinct propositions serving different client needs. The campus model preserves distinct operating experiences, controlled access, service standards, and brand identities, while benefiting from shared infrastructure and selected back-of-house operating systems where economically and operationally appropriate.

Current Phase One design basis — subject to master-planning, engineering, regulatory approvals, commercial demand, and final investment approval.
